Where: Start and End: Meralco Compound, Ortigas Ave., Pasig
When: Sunday, November 28, 2010
I was lucky enough to be part of the team that covered the knowledge channel fun run (KaRUNungan 2010) and it was a blast. Former students of pro photographer Jo Avila volunteered to be part of this run (I am a former basic photography course student). Now here's a rundown of how a big shoot like this came to be.
1.) Countless coordination meetings - We were lucky enough that Sir Jo was in direct contact with the people from Knowledge Channel.
2.) A meeting / briefing of all photographers a week prior to the event (I wasn't able to make it due to class sked)
3.) Email correspondence on what to bring, what to expects during the event, what you need to do during the event, race route and where will you be stationed, who to look out for to shoot and others.
4.) On site briefing that happened 2:30AM (run starts 5AM) - everything from numbers 2 and 3 where again reiterated, some of us got to know the other photographers who will be stationed with us.
So race proper alot of us are a bit sleepy, some stayed in Starbucks Metrowalk before the event and spent the whole evening there till 2AM. Run will start at 5AM but as photographers we were also tasked to take pictures of pre-event stuff, like setup, people behind the scenes and arrival of runners.
At 5AM alot of us were then shuttled to our designated positions and began shooting till about 8am when we were again shuttled back to Meralco Compound to download our pictures and have some chow courtesy of Goldilocks.
